GETTING STARTED

Your first run with SoftBuddy

STEP 01

Install from the App Store

iOS 17.0 or later, about 22 MB.

STEP 02

Install the helper on Mac

brew install softbuddy-helper

STEP 03

Run the pair command

softbuddy-helper pair

TROUBLESHOOTING

Common connection issues

App is stuck on "Advertising" and can't find my Mac +
  1. Confirm Bluetooth is on for both devices and they're within 10 meters.
  2. In Terminal, run softbuddy-helper status to verify the helper is running.
  3. iPhone Settings → SoftBuddy → Bluetooth permission must be On.
  4. Long-press the status bar in the App and choose "Reset pairing", then re-pair.
The buddy is stuck on Busy +
Usually the helper's event stream has dropped. Run softbuddy-helper restart. If it still doesn't recover, open a GitHub issue and attach ~/.softbuddy/helper.log.
I'm not receiving approval notifications +
iPhone Settings → Notifications → SoftBuddy: confirm notifications are allowed for Lock Screen / Banner / Notification Center. Also make sure your iOS Focus mode isn't filtering this App out.
How do I fully uninstall and wipe my data? +
iPhone: long-press the icon and delete — sandbox data goes with it. Mac: brew uninstall softbuddy-helper && rm -rf ~/.softbuddy.
